In the summer of 2014 through 2015, I set up structures to hold me accountable to this project. During this time I worked on 6 x 9 in. watercolor pads that traveled with me wherever I went and I scrupulously held myself to creating a painting a day. The formalized aspects of this practice teetered off as I started to move into what would become my Scroll Series, the seeds of which are found within the lines and language of my work during this summer. Yet, while my work expanded, the practice of journaling remained an essential aspect of my process.
