Motherhood, Sisterhood, Krasnerhood
Tell me about this project.
"This project is about the inner life of a mother bursting with color, shape, and wonder. A search for equilibrium. Show and make space for holding each other. I want to share the wisdom of cats and teach cat language."
How does this project build on your past work?
"In "Motherhood, Sisterhood, Krasnerhood" I move away from depictions of my anatomy and now begin to focus on representations of my exterior self, the challenge of sitting with dichotic emotions like hope and fear, the surrogate mothers and sisters that made me brave, and bring fragments of landscape back into my work. My cat, Krasner (named for the artist Lee Krasner) sneakily makes her mark in some paintings. Her watchful eye and wandering paw reminds me to focus on the process; the muddling part of making."
